Axelar Network

What is Axelar Network?

Axelar is a platform designed to facilitate secure cross-chain communication for Web3. It merges Cosmos and all EVM chains, enabling decentralized application (dApp) users to interact with any asset or application on any chain with a single click. The platform connects dozens of chains and is built to connect thousands more with secure communication and Turing-complete composability.

Axelar’s infrastructure allows dApps to communicate across chains using Turing-complete calls and messages on a permissionless proof-of-stake transport layer. This goes beyond traditional bridges, allowing dApps to send and receive arbitrary messages, calling functions cross-chain, and delivering a one-click user experience.

The platform also features the Axelar Virtual Machine, a Turing-complete interchain network that supports logic to automate complex interchain tasks, such as connecting new chains or managing interchain dApp deployments. Security at Axelar begins with proof-of-stake, the same consensus mechanism used by many of the chains Axelar connects, and includes additional measures like quadratic voting, validator security rules, application-layer safeguards, and regular audits and bug bounties.

Axelar is a permissionless network with a dynamic validator set of nodes running proof-of-stake consensus, meaning anyone can accumulate stake and provide security on the network. The platform also offers a grants program for teams building cross-chain super apps and encourages community involvement.

Axelar Grant Program

The Axelar Grant Program is designed to support the development of world-changing Web3 products. The program offers two types of funding:

  1. Axelar Grants Program: This program provides up to $25,000 in funding for projects that aim to launch on Mainnet, with Axelar being a core component of the product stack. The grant program is dedicated to launching Web3 ideas that have the potential to change the world. The grants fall within four main categories: open source, infrastructure, research + education, and community growth. Submissions are evaluated every two weeks.
  2. Axelar Ecosystem Fund: This fund is for projects that are ready to raise venture funding, have already launched on Mainnet, and have meaningful traction and/or users.

In addition to these, there’s a Featured Grant Program in partnership with NodeRun, which has launched Quick Grants, a first-of-its-kind initiative for funding community projects. 10% of the validator rewards NodeRun collects will be disbursed to applicants approved for a Quick Grant.

Furthermore, Axelar, along with a group of leading investors, has assembled a $60M Ecosystem Startup Funding Program to accelerate and invest in Web3 teams building for mass adoption and impact. This program shares a vision of dedicated funding for the development of the Web3 ecosystem.

Application Process

The application process for the Axelar Grant Program is not explicitly detailed on the page. However, there are “Apply Here” or “Apply Now” buttons throughout the page, suggesting that the application process is initiated by clicking on these buttons.

For the Axelar Grants Program, the goal is to launch on Mainnet, with Axelar being a core component of your product stack. The Axelar Ecosystem Fund, it is for projects that are ready to raise venture funding, have already launched on Mainnet, and have meaningful traction and users.
